Two Albanians and three Britons have been arrested by the Spanish police, in an operation that led to the seizure of 300 kg of cocaine.
The investigation into this group started in the summer months, after information about drug trafficking from South America. The Spanish police have pursued two Albanians who would deliver a large amount of drugs hidden inside a truck.
The police's suspicions were confirmed when in Benicassim, the two Albanians handed over the truck to two other people, who were preceded by another vehicle driven by a third associate of theirs.
The police have been following the truck with the suspicion that it was headed for Alicante or the Costa del Sol. After spotting the police, the truck driver left the highway near Denia. During the chase, the truck collided with two police cars and ended up being stopped at a "Carrefour" Hypermarket.
The police handcuffed the three people who were in the two vehicles, who turned out to be English citizens. After finding the keys to the truck, which had been thrown away by the driver, the police opened it and discovered 300 kg of cocaine inside.
In a simultaneous operation, two Albanian citizens were also arrested in Benicassim. The latter were accompanied by the Spanish police yesterday, as in some apartments in two municipalities of Alicante, where controls were carried out.
