A serious event took place in Gjirokastër, where two people took a 53-year-old hostage and then threatened him to take a sum of money.
The police say that a 45-year-old woman, Lavdije Çaushi, a resident of Gjirokastër, and Edi Tafili, 38, a resident of Krahës i Memaliajt, have been handcuffed.
They are accused of the criminal offenses "Illegal Deprivation of Liberty", "Coercion through threats or violence to give property", committed in collaboration.
" Gjirokastër Police Station Services, after the announcement that 2 citizens had taken away their freedom, a 53-year-old man, holding him against his will and threatening him with the intention of giving him a sum of money, immediately organized the work for the capture and bringing suspected perpetrators to legal responsibility.
As a result of the quick actions of the specialists for the Investigation of Crimes of the Gjirokastër Police Station, the suspected perpetrators, the citizens, have been identified, caught and arrested:
- L. Ç., 45 years old, resident of Gjirokastër and ET, 38 years old, resident of Krahës, Memaliaj for the criminal offenses "Illegal Deprivation of Liberty", "Extortion through threats or violence to give property", committed in cooperation .
From the investigative actions, it is suspected that these 2 citizens, for weak motives, kept the 53-year-old SP citizen in the apartment rented by the 45-year-old woman, depriving him of his freedom, as well as threatening him to give away property.
The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Gjirokastër, for further actions ," the police announced.
