The Border Police in Kapshtica have arrested a 48-year-old man in flagrante delicto after he attempted to illegally import contraband goods into Albanian territory.
The person with the initials SL, a resident of the village of Plug, Lushnja, has been arrested. He was stopped while driving a vehicle that passed through the second line for a detailed check.
During the search, Border Police services found 32 cartons of cigarettes and some undeclared food products hidden in the vehicle, in violation of the law.
"Kapshticë, Korçë/ He attempted to smuggle dozens of cartons of cigarettes and food products into Albania, the 48-year-old was caught red-handed and arrested. The smuggled goods, hidden in the vehicle he was driving, were seized.
As a result of the increased controls, at the entrance to the Republic of Albania, at the Kapshtica Border Crossing Point, the Border Police services passed to the second line for a detailed check a vehicle driven by citizen SL, 48 years old, resident of the village of Plug, Lushnje.
During the search of the vehicle, 32 cartons of cigarettes and some food products were found hidden, which the citizen SL was attempting to bring into Albania without declaring, in violation of the law. At the end of the procedural actions, the specialists for the Investigation of Crimes of the Local Directorate for Border and Migration in Korça arrested the citizen SL in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offense of "Smuggling of excise goods". The goods found were seized as material evidence. The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Korça, for further actions," the police announced.
