The police of Montenegro have arrested a 37-year-old man from Albania, who was caught with narcotics.
The citizen with the initials YD has smuggled a package of marijuana, weighing 1 kg, from Albania to Montenegro.
According to the authorities, the 37-year-old had illegally entered the territory of Montenegro on Friday morning.
"Policemen of the South Border Police Regional Center, Border Police Station I - Ulcin on Friday around 05:35 in the area of Sutjela, Ulcin municipality, acted on the basis of operational knowledge and found YD, 37 years old, a citizen of the Republic of Albania, illegally crossing the state border across the Bojana (Buna) river, using a metal tool. After that, this person left in the direction of the village of Sutjel, carrying a package, which was later found to be a package weighing 1.04 kilograms, with green plant matter suspected to be marijuana," the police statement said.
"The prosecutor at the High State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed about the incident, by whose order YD was deprived of his freedom under the suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of narcotic drugs", the communiqué concludes.
