An Italian police operation in Chiasso has led to the arrest of two Albanian nationals, suspected of international drug trafficking between Switzerland and Italy. During a routine roadside check, authorities stopped a vehicle with Ticino license plates, driven by a 34-year-old Albanian. His suspicious behavior led to a further check at a hotel in Morbio Inferiore, where he was staying.
In the hotel room, police found several kilograms of cocaine divided into packages ready for sale, as well as a significant amount of money, suspected to be proceeds from criminal activity. At the time of the search, a 19-year-old Albanian man was also in the room, who was arrested along with the 34-year-old.
Investigations revealed that the two arrested had made numerous trips in rental cars to Lugano and Italy, using hotels and rented houses as logistical bases for their criminal activity. Italian authorities have filed charges of serious violations of federal narcotics law against the two.
