The moment Mark Samson placed the suitcase containing the body of his ex-girlfriend, Ilaria Sula, in the trunk of his car and then threw it off a cliff may have been filmed.
The Ford Puma car that the 23-year-old used to transport the Albanian woman's body had a camera, which is used to obtain more information on the dynamics of accidents or simply to capture general images of landscapes.
Normally the camera is directed at the outside of the vehicle, but it can also film the interior of the car.
And in this case, it appears that the car's camera also captured the back of the car and therefore the moment when Mark Simson placed the black suitcase inside the trunk.
It was he who told the police, in another letter from Regina Coeli prison where he is being held, where the memory card was that he had removed from the camera and hidden in a piece of furniture in his home.
It is not certain whether the images remain in the device's memory, as they are normally cyclically overwritten after a few hours. However, what seems certain is that the car camera was on.
Samson's goal is to provide further evidence to demonstrate that he acted alone, removing the suspicion that he was helped by his parents to hide Ilaria's body in a suitcase and transport it to Capranica Prenestina, over 50 kilometers from the apartment on Via Homs where the 22-year-old student was murdered.
For the same reason, Mark, in a previous letter to prosecutors, had indicated that a relative of the mechanic in front of his house had seen him leave the garage alone on March 26 with his suitcase.
Meanwhile, the dentist who has his office in the building noticed the boy emptying the trunk of his car, perhaps to make room for the suitcase.
autopsy
The autopsy revealed that Ilaria had coffee in her stomach and no food residue. This would indicate that Samson did not lie at least on one point: when he reported during the preliminary hearing with the investigating judge that he had stabbed his ex-girlfriend at around 11:00 on April 26, after sending her breakfast to her room.
The victim only had time to drink coffee, because the 23-year-old, as he told investigators, after discovering that Ilaria was exchanging SMS with another boy, physically confronted her to take the cell phone from her hands.
Then, enraged, Mark Samson took the bread knife and, while blocking the girl from behind with his right arm, stabbed her three times in the neck with his left hand.
In recent days, the suspect admitted, during a conversation with his lawyers Fabrizio Gallo and Alessandro Pillitu, that he had not thrown away the victim's cell phone, which was actually found in his apartment, under the mattress of the 23-year-old's parents' bed.
The boy said he had handed it over to his mother, who is under investigation for complicity in hiding a corpse.
Meanwhile, Mark wrote a letter to his mother in Filipino with a "mea culpa": "I have failed at everything and I know I have disappointed you, but don't stop loving me."
