The identity of the Albanian, who escaped an assassination attempt yesterday evening in Kato Ahaia, has been revealed.
He is Emil Backa, 43 years old from Tirana, but a resident of "Paleologu 8" street in the city of Ahaia.
The victim of the assassination has a criminal record for drug issues. He was released from Koridhalo prison in March 2023 and there are suspicions that he still continues his criminal activity.
According to the police, he was shot 3 times with a pistol from a "Citroen" type vehicle with black windows, but only one bullet hit him in the body.
The 43-year-old was shot while he was outside the fence of his apartment.
As a result of the shooting, the 43-year-old was wounded in the waist, first he was transferred to the Kato Achaia Health Center and then to the Rio hospital to receive more specialized medical care.
According to the local police, an unknown person, who was in a "Citroen" vehicle, with black windows, approached him only a few meters from his apartment and shot at least 3 times, with a 9mm pistol, at the Albanian citizen. Emil Fatmir Backa, born in 1981 and resident at 8 Paleologu street in Ahaja.
Backa received serious injuries from the bullets, but the doctors say that at the moment his life is out of danger.
There is still a bullet left in the victim's body, while he was sent to the university hospital of Patra, where he is kept in intensive care awaiting a surgical intervention to remove the bullet.
The police say that the suspected perpetrator was able to quickly leave the area, while investigations are underway to find him.
The Greek police say that the war track between drug gangs is being investigated, as the injured man has a criminal record for drug trafficking. He was released from the notorious Korridhalos prison, where he was held for drug trafficking, in March 2023 and is suspected of still continuing drug trafficking in the area.
Light on the assassination is expected to be given by the victim himself, who will be interrogated as soon as he is in a fit state of health.
