The testimony of Artan Tafani, a member of Laert Haxhiu's group who has agreed to cooperate with the justice system, revealed the murder of Albi Bashaliu that happened on December 27, 2021.
The 35-year-old was killed in one of the bars in the village of Gjoçaj in Peqin, where he lived. It is learned that the victim was called by name by the perpetrators before being shot to death. Albi was the brother of Leonard Bashali, who in June 2021 killed Ylber Xhahysa for a conflict that happened 5 years ago after the victim had scratched his car.
When six months had passed, Albi Bashaliu was executed in the exact place where his brother had killed Xhahysa. A few meters away, the police found the burned car of the perpetrators.
How the murder of December 27, 2021 happened
At that time, it was learned that Albi Bashaliu had gone out to the neighborhood to eat breakfast and then he was called by a person to go outside and there he was shot several times with a pistol, losing his life. The suspicions were that the perpetrators were 2 who, after killing the young man, set fire to their vehicle, which was parked near the bar.
They then left the scene in the victim's car. The perpetrators were wearing a Covid-i mask and a hat.
Meanwhile, in November 2022, Leonard Bashaliu was sentenced to 18 years in prison by the Court of Elbasan for the murder of Ylber Xhahysa.
