"I left him alive"/ The investigative file of the judge's murder

Tirana was shaken by a serious incident on the afternoon of October 6, when magistrate Astrit Kalaja was shot dead inside the Court of Appeals hall.

Journalist Anila Hoxha has secured the investigation file, fully revealing the statement of the author of the murder of judge Elvis Shkambi.

According to the Prosecution's file, Shkambi stated that on the day of the incident, he left Shkodra with his uncle, Gjon Shkambi, to be present at the trial that would be held at noon regarding their property case.

He states that the two initially stopped in Lezha, had consolation coffee with some of their relatives, and then arrived in Tirana.

He describes all the actions he took up until the moment of the murder and then surrendering to the officers.

After arriving in Tirana, the 30-year-old parked his car and then, with the gun he was carrying in his belt, entered the courtroom, where he accompanied his uncle as a party to the trial.

While they were waiting for the trial to begin, he also saw Ragip Kurtaj and his son, who were the other party in the process, but there was no communication between them.

Shkambi confesses that he was present in the courtroom and after Judge Astrit Kalaja gave the verdict, he took out his gun from his waistband (which he had been carrying for 10 years without a permit, but says he never used it), loaded it, removed the safety and shot at the judge.

The judge was walking away towards the deliberation room when he was shot several times in the upper body.

Shkambi says he was shocked and in a state of shock after the verdict, and after shooting him, he reportedly shot again unconsciously from the door where Ragip Kurtaj and his son were running away, who were injured. He adds that he did not intend to shoot at them because he did not have a problem with them.

Further in his testimony, he says that he approached the judge's body, which was almost lying on the ground, and says that he saw that he was alive and conscious.

At that moment, the court secretary was next to him, who, frightened, said: Please, please.

"Calm down, I have nothing against you," he said and then left the room.
