The four people arrested in Shkodra as suspected perpetrators of the TNT murder of 67-year-old Hysni Ymeri appeared in court today.
The arrested are Gerti Bushati, Ergys Ibrahimi, Edison Hasaj and Gjergji Zefi. According to the authorities, they are suspected of having acted in collaboration in the commission of this serious criminal event.
The arrested will face several serious criminal charges, including "Premeditated Murder", committed in collaboration, "Destruction of property with explosives", "Unlicensed possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in collaboration, as well as "Disturbance of public peace".
Authorities say that investigations are continuing to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and to determine the specific roles of each of the suspects.
It is suspected that one of the arrested, Gerti Bushati, was paid 1,000 euros to place explosives in the electrical package of the building where Ymeri lived, on December 27, two days before the remote-controlled explosion.
The amount of money was found and seized in his apartment. It is not known whether the young man was promised more money or not. Sources from the investigation group confirm that Bushati was betrayed by security cameras as he was caught passing through the area, but also while he was changing clothes after placing the explosives.
27-year-old Bushati appears wearing overalls that he had worn over other clothes and after leaving the area, he takes off the overalls and throws them on the side of the river. The entire scene was captured by the security cameras of a nearby business, while the clothes he used have now been seized by investigators.
Thanks to the investigations carried out, the investigators discovered that on the day of the incident, in the "Manush Alimani" neighborhood, the two arrested Ergys Ibrahimi and Edison Hasaj were also present. The investigative group has strong suspicions that the remote-controlled explosion was carried out by Ergys Ibrahimi, as soon as 67-year-old Hysni Ymeri was climbing up to the apartment.
Initially, it was suspected that the incident was accidental due to a defect in the electrical network, a statement that was later refuted by OSHEE. After the incident, the suspects were escorted to the police station and kept under surveillance by the police. But without knowing this detail, the suspects had started communicating with each other.
The arrested have no direct conflicts with the victim, while investigators are still unclear about who the real perpetrator of the crime is, or even the motive for the 67-year-old's murder.
