The renowned Albanian actor, director and playwright, Naun Shundi, will be conveyed to his final resting place this Friday.
He passed away on August 28, at the age of 66, after a short but difficult battle with a serious illness.
Tributes to the artist were held from 10:30 to 12:00, at the "ArTurbina" Theater.
His daughter also spoke to the media, who, amidst her pain, said that her father was a just man and always told the truth.
"Cancer ate him from the inside, because he only told the truth. He didn't say a word to us. The doctors never told us that my father would die. He thought he would live. Even though he left, he left behind 'The Lady of the Inn', and he dedicated his life to the theater. I don't know where the right is, but he who has it, has it in his heart," she said.
Meanwhile, renowned actor Bujar Asqeriu described Shund as a universal figure of Albanian art and a very modest man.
"Today is a day of pain and sadness for the Albanian public that followed his art with applause. Nauni was a universal artist – director, actor, playwright – but above all a noble man. He was one of those great artists, humble and modest, who never emphasized himself, but his work and work spoke for themselves," said Asqeriu.
Actor and cartoonist Bujar Kapexhiu also praised Shund's figure, calling him "a rare and wonderful man."
"Naun Shundi was an excellent actor of the Albanian stage and screen, a rare friend. He dedicated his entire life to theater and achieved success not only as an actor, but also as a playwright. His passion for theater led him to build his own theater. He left this life too soon, but he left traces that will remain as a school in the art of theater and cinema," said Kapexhiu.
