Tony Dallara, one of the greatest icons of Italian music, has died at the age of 89, leaving behind a rich musical legacy that has marked entire generations. The news was confirmed by the Italian organization “Nuovo Imaie”, which in a mournful message wrote: “Dear Tony, you were one of the so-called screamers and you marked the history of Italian music. We will not forget you.”
Born in Campobasso, Molise, in 1936, Dallara became known as the “king of the howlers” – a generation of singers who brought a new, stronger and more emotional style to the Italian stage, challenging the tradition of bel canto. With the extraordinary hit “Come Prima”, he entered music history by selling over 300,000 copies in just a few weeks and making the song a symbol of the golden age of Italian pop.
In 1960, Tony Dallara won the Sanremo Festival with the song "Romantica", rising to the heights of national success. He returned victorious in 1961 with "Un uomo vivo" and 1964 with "Come posso dimenticarti", becoming one of the most successful artists in the history of this festival.
Dallara was not only a successful singer; he was also a passionate painter and a much-loved television personality, present in Italian culture for decades. Big names like Mina and Adriano Celentano have followed the path he blazed with courage and distinctive style.
In the 60s, he continued to fill the stages with unforgettable songs like "Ti dirò", "Brivido blu", "Ghiaccio bollente", "La novia" and "Bambina bambina", selling millions of records and maintaining the status of a legend.
