Elton John concluded his 50-year career on the world stage with nearly 4,600 performances worldwide. At the end of his marathon tour in Stockholm, Elton John gave his farewell message.
"My whole soul has been playing for you, and you've been absolutely magnificent," he told the audience at Sweden's Tele2 Arena.
Elton John, 76, paid tribute to his current band and crew, some of whom have been touring with him for many years.
"They're really incredible and they're the best, I'm telling you, the best," he said.
He started his show with Bennie and the Jets and went on to perform many more hits including Philadelphia Freedom, Tiny Dancer, Rocket Man and Candle in the Wind.
His Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour kicked off in North America in 2018, and this was his second night of performance in Stockholm. He played to more than six million fans, and one of the highlights was his headline set at Glastonbury Festival last month.
It is one of the highest paying tournaments ever. Billboard magazine reports that it is the first to reach $900 million in ticket sales. The last concert, which lasted two hours, ended with the song "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" dedicated to his collaborators and the team that followed Elton John in all the concerts. Thus he ends a 50-year career.
