Analyst Ben Andoni, commenting on the political situation in the country after the May 11 elections, emphasized the importance of electoral standards and the role of parties in the current political system.
According to Andoni, Albania has the potential to improve its international perception if it manages to organize regular and transparent local elections, especially in municipalities where new elections are expected to be held.
"If these elections go well, they will be reflected positively in international reports," he told News24.
Andoni questioned the effectiveness of the Democratic Party's complaints, saying that "they will end up in a system built by the DP and SP themselves, and are hostage to this collaboration."
He also criticized the failure of small parties to join forces to maximize representation in parliament, calling their mandates "negligible."
Meanwhile, regarding Prime Minister Edi Rama, Andoni said that even though he renewed the appearance of the Socialist Party in parliament, "his disregard for the opposition remains problematic for democracy in the country." According to him, Rama should also listen to opposition voices, "even on things that he considers insignificant."
