Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated during a press conference after the NATO summit in Ankara that Italy did not participate in the attacks on Iran. She emphasized that her country has respected its international commitments by not engaging in military operations against Tehran.
"Italy's position on the use of military bases in our country is clear. We respect our commitments like all serious nations, but we said we would not participate in attacks on Iran and we have not participated in attacks on Iran," Meloni said.
The Italian Prime Minister also said that her government continues to support a diplomatic solution to the conflict, adding that the military path has not produced the expected results.
"I believe that so far the military option in this case has not yielded such concrete results and I think we should insist on the capacity and possibility of negotiations," said Meloni.
