As the anti-government protest enters its 39th day today, with citizens expected to gather again in front of the Prime Minister's Office, former MP Myslim Murrizi has reacted with a message on social media, describing the civic mobilization as a delayed but necessary development.

According to him, for more than three decades, protests in Albania have been monopolized by political parties and not by the citizens themselves.

" Protest is a civil right that, unfortunately, in Albania for 36 years has been 'privatized' only as an asset of political parties, thanks to patronage and militants who never go out to protest unless the party calls them, but also due to the fault of society itself that has never reacted in 36 years to its own troubles, problems and interests ," writes Murrizi.

The former MP says that the current protest shows that citizens are finally reacting to the problems that directly affect them.

" Thankfully, the civic nerve was awakened, because when I saw them 'protesting' for Luiz on Big Brother and being silent about the price board, about oil, about taxes and about prices, it came to mind that we were living in luxury ," said Murrizi.

Meanwhile, this evening, citizens have warned that they will gather again in front of the Prime Minister's Office building, continuing the protest that has entered its 39th day. Protesters are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the holding of early elections, while the protest continues every evening in the center of Tirana.
