Socialist MP Fatmir Xhafaj, who is running on the SP's open list for the Tirana District in the May 11 parliamentary elections, is convinced that the DP will remain in opposition.
In the show 'This Week' on News24, Xhafaj states that the SP would have a difficult electoral confrontation if a different leadership were at the helm of the DP.
"Berisha is the most unsuitable leader the opposition could have to lead to victory. You cannot ask a voter in 2025 for a leadership that has been in politics for 30 years and has a series of problems that do not motivate the electorate."
We must understand that the opposition is fundamental to democracy and it must be constructive in its role and function.
We have seen an opposition lacking vision and representative of a dark period in its political activity.
"Mainly, I think they do not have dignified representation to represent the opposition people," said Xhafaj.
Asked about the majority's predictions for the number of mandates they will receive on May 11, Xhafaj said that the SP maintains the number of mandates and can go even further. Regarding Tirana, he said that if the circumstances before the electoral process were different, in the May 11 race, 20 mandates would be won, while today the predictions are for 19 such mandates by the majority.
"I believe that at a minimum, the SP maintains the number of mandates like this and in Tirana, it is guaranteed the number 19. If some circumstances before the electoral process were completely different, today we would be talking about the 20th mandate," said Xhafaj.
