Open list race, Xhafaj: There are tensions, I hope we avoid a rift between us;

Fatmir Xhafaj, who is running for the parliamentary seat on the Socialist Party's open list for Tirana, says there is tension in the race within the Socialists, but hopes that this will not lead to a split. In this context, the socialist who in 2021 managed to break the quotient and obtain the parliamentary seat, seems to be warning of the tensions that could arise after the elections in the Socialist Party, if these tensions reach a boiling point.

In the show 'This Week' on News24, Xhafaj emphasizes that the open list competition has two scenes: the "fight" within the parties, to secure votes for each candidate, and the confrontation with the political opponent.

He advised the other candidates when he said that "we must take care that all this competition does not lead to a breakdown in cohesion and ethics among us."

Let's stay within the political family for a bit. But in addition to the political opponent, this time you also have socialist colleagues running, is there any tension?

Fatmir Xhafaj: To say that there is no tension would be wrong. The race itself has tension inside because it is competition, this is normal. This is a first experience but I believe that in the future there will need to be some clear rules for internal competition because if these tensions reach a high boiling point, these may have consequences in the future for the internal cohesion of the political force. Considering the competition within us and the relationship that is created with the citizens as a result of this competition as a very positive thing, considering these useful values, we must take care that all this competition does not lead to a breakdown of the cohesion and ethics of a competitive race between us.

I believe that if there were such things, they would not be very useful. There is another thing, the political family itself selects them, socialists do not like internal tensions, they do not have internal conflict in their nature and they do not like conflicting people who want to impose their beliefs and their votes on them. I do not believe that candidates who will try to do such a thing will be successful.
