After a minute of silence for the historic leader of the Socialists, Fatos Nano, the plenary session immediately moved on to the agenda, where the 2026 draft budget is also expected to be discussed.
The head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, invited the opposition to vote for the passage of the draft budget along with the work calendar, emphasizing that the government kept its word to pensioners, administration employees, and the private sector.
"We kept our word, we are presenting the largest budget in history. We also kept our word for pensioners and not like you left them in 2013. Pension increases and indexation for pensioners, month-by-month increases."
From January 1, 2026, thanks to this budget, the minimum wage will increase to 500 euros. Not only will pensioners receive 100 million euros, but it will also double from year to year, and the total for them with budgetary support will reach 1.7 billion euros. Regarding salaries, there is also assistance in the private and state sectors.
"Even for the police and the Guard, I apologize to the officers, there will be a salary increase for them as well," Balla said, among other things.
He further invited the opposition to vote on the draft budget within the deadlines, so as not to leave employees and pensioners waiting or deprive them of salary and pension increases.
"So let's pass this budget that the Minister of Finance also read yesterday at the Conference of Mayors, we have until December 15. There is enough time, so I invite you to pass it, to vote on the calendar and the budget because by voting for them, you vote for all those who expect an increase in salaries and pensions," said Balla.
