The number of coalitions for the May 11 elections has increased to three.
Following Dashamir Shehi's coalition with Alibeaj's party and the Nisma Thurje alliance with Shqipëria Bëhet, the Democratic Party has submitted to the CEC the request for the registration of its coalition with 25 allies.
The coalition is called the Democratic Party - Alliance for a Greater Albania (DP - ASHM).
The DP will give its allies 8 seats on the closed lists. Within the time limits, the Democrats have also managed to convince Shpëtim Idrizi, who will only receive one seat on the safe list, although he requested two mandates of deputies. The PL has 4 seats, one Mediu, one Duka and one Dule.
The parties' statement states: "Through this agreement, we unite today as opposition political forces and as representatives of the citizens of Albania, with the primary objective of political rotation, to win convincingly in the elections of May 11, 2025, through the creation of the coalition "Democratic Party - Alliance for a Greater Albania", to bring the long-awaited change to Albania. Today, we unite with a common goal and program for the removal of this Narco-government that has depopulated the country by 1 million Albanians, has destroyed the rule of law, has seized all independent institutions, has appropriated public assets, has introduced crime and corruption into every cell of government, making the lives of Albanians unbearable and unsafe."
