Action in Theth, Shehaj reveals the purpose of the demolition of the hostel:
Agron Shehaj

The leader of the Opportunity Party and also an MP elected in the May 11 elections, Agron Shehaj, has commented on the latest developments regarding the interventions in the Theth area.

Shehaj stated that Theth has an extraordinary development potential and that construction in that area is necessary, but according to him, Rama is pursuing a strategy to take control away from the residents and give it to those who, according to Shehaj, are interested in Rama.

"We must base ourselves on the facts. The fact is that Thethi has a very important development opportunity, which would be good to develop without prejudice and without destroying that place that is truly extraordinary. Of course, there will be construction. There is no question that there will be construction there. It would be good to have construction, because it is an economic asset that should be used. The question is what is happening," Shehaj told "Euronews".

Shehaj further accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of having a clear plan to control public spaces, under the justification of freeing them, excluding local residents and favoring oligarchs.

"Edi Rama has a plan for Theth. Supposedly to free up public spaces, he started in Vlora, then went to Theth, destroying the business of someone who Edi Rama says was a criminal. Basically, it was for him to capture Theth," Shehaj emphasized.

According to him, the final beneficiaries of the construction in Theth will not be the local residents, but the same oligarchs who, as he says, have occupied the coast.

"Who will build in Theth, the residents? No, there is no doubt. Those who built on the coast will also build in Theth. It is the oligarchs who have occupied the coast and they will take this too," said the leader of the Opportunity Party.

Shehaj warned that, as in the case of the coast, the government is following the same model for Theth, attempting to control natural resources in the service of private interests.

"The decisions that Edi Rama has made, as he has used the coast, he will do the same with Theth," he said.

Shehaj posted a status a day ago on social media, where he said that behind Rama's actions in Theth lies his intention to give the natural asset to the oligarchs.
