The parliamentary security committee has today approved the draft law on Criminal Amnesty.
Three amendments have been proposed by the Democrats.
Enkelejd Alibeaj has requested that the amnesty be extended to include protesters convicted from October 1, 2018 to December 31, 2020.
Criminal Amnesty is a draft law that requires 84 votes to be approved and the majority is looking for consensus with the opposition.
Alibeaj requested that the parliament not fall prey to bargains and political influences.
Over 200 convicts and over 2,000 other people on probation will benefit from its approval.
The Ministry of Justice has expressed its readiness to draft an opinion on the Alibeaj amendment.
The socialist MPs in the item-by-item discussions brought several other proposals.
It is now expected that the draft law will also be voted on in the laws committee.
