Former President Bamir Topi said that the result of the May 11 elections was expected and a reconfirmation of the political status quo in the country.
According to him, the real analysis does not lie in the campaign or media statements, but in the structure of the political system and the way it functions.
"We don't predict like oracles, but we know how to read the system - and when you read the system, you also read the result ," Topi told "News 24".
Bamir Topi pointed out a paradox that, according to him, characterizes Albanian politics.
"The more problems the majority has, the more votes it gets. It is an anomaly that comes from the system itself," emphasized the former head of state.
"I will answer you laconicly. These elections reconfirmed the status quo. We have shared here together other times and what is valid in the analysis, precisely the period before the elections came - because one tends to go to some moments which are real moments outside the subjective assessment of the parties, of the opinionists in the studio, as I have expressed before, unfortunately they are oriented according to the interests of the parties. The problem here is not that we predict the oracle here, but we do an objective political analysis, we know what the structure of Albanian politics is, who the characters are, what the system is and in the end if you analyze the system you also predict the result.
So, everything was expected. When it comes to the numerical assessment, there is another element added that is the most unpredictable that sets Albania apart from the others, so the more problems the majority has, the more votes in the next elections. A kind of paradox that the electoral political system has anomalies and these anomalies also give these results…”, said Bamir Topi.
