The arrest of Ilir Meta, the big test of SPAK!
Ilir Meta-Altin Dumani

If Ilir Meta, who floats on money, does not go to prison, then the reform has failed...

The arrest of Ilir Meta will be the final test of SPAK. Since the isolation of Berisha in his apartment at the end of December, SPAK has been spared major blows at the political level, focusing more on organized crime.

Undoubtedly, the most sensational file that is in the hands of the prosecutors is that of Ilir Meta and Kryemadhi, who are now in the divorce process. Ilir Meta is being investigated in two directions. One is the CEZ-DIA file, where Altin Dumani is also involved. While on the other side there is a merger of the file of lobbying, aesthetic interventions and wealth. Monika Kryemadhi is also in this second one.

It was said several times that Ilir Meta could be arrested, but it never happened. A few months ago, the arrest warrant was ready, but SPAK withdrew after pressure from Meta. A few weeks ago he was interrogated again and rumors say that the files are being copied. The question that is asked now is: Will SPAK dare to handcuff Ilir Meta?

If we look at the methodology that SPAK is following, we seem to have the Croatian example. It is learned that the SPAK has carried out wiretapping and provided other investigative materials, while there is also talk of remorseful witnesses. Also, SPAK has secured SMS on Monika's phone, as it seems that there was also environmental monitoring of Meta. It is also learned that an investigation is being carried out for assets hidden outside of Meta, as all his and Monika's properties here have been entered into the scanner.

But this method that the Prosecutor's Office is following is similar to what the Croatian homologation "USKOK" did when it arrested the former prime minister, Ivo Sanader. His case is similar in many respects to Meta's. The former president is accused of having benefited by favoring CEZ-DIA. Meanwhile, Ivo Sander was convicted because he had benefited €10,000,000 from the Hungarian company "MOL", to favor it in the Croatian market.

Regarding the investigations, journalists reported that Sanader wore very expensive wristwatches, one of which was worth over 100,000 Euros. The investigation started after the first indications and it was very difficult to gather evidence. The investigation was carried out by a team consisting of 7 Prosecutors who worked 16 hours a day, including Saturdays and Sundays. Important facts were obtained, leading to the conclusion that the former prime minister was involved in criminal corrupt activities. Various witnesses have been contacted where they have given very important facts especially for the beginning of the process.

But the whole issue is will SPAK dare? Or will he give in to the pressure? Meta is known to have engaged with a knife and a mace to stop the arrest. In addition to media pressures, it is learned that he also brought in people to put pressure on the prosecutors, why not to buy them off. Now SPAK is in the test. If Ilir Meta, who floats on money, does not go to prison, then the reform has failed. The Sanader we talked about was sentenced 3 times with a total of nearly 18 years in prison.
