Immediately after ERE's decision to lower the price of energy for family subscribers by 1 lek, the head of the government said this is a consequence of the reforms undertaken, ignoring the fact that the May 11 elections are now approaching.
The Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE) has approved the reduction of the price of electricity for household subscribers.
The new energy price is reduced from 9.5 Lek to 8.5 Lek for the consumption of 700 KWH, i.e. it is reduced by 1 Lek.
Prime Minister Edi Rama called this decrease of 1 lek as historic only four months away from the campaign.
The first decrease in the price of electricity in these 35 years. This fills us with pride if we consider the abyss from which we have started climbing. The reduction is in complete contrast to the region and the continent where we live, where energy prices have not only increased but are also threatened by other increases, said Rama.
The new prices come into effect on February 1, 2025 and will be in effect until December 31, 2025.
The reduction of the price of energy with these tariffs was a proposal of the Electricity Distribution Operator.
This decision was taken by unanimous decision during the meeting of the Board of the Electricity Regulatory Entity today, where the government's proposal for reducing the price of energy for family subscribers was examined.
Currently, the price of electricity for family subscribers is 9.5 Lek per kWh without VAT. So the price of electricity is reduced by 1 lek, so with VAT they will pay 10.2 lek from 11.4 lek currently.
Who consumes more than 700 kWh of electricity per month will continue to pay 9.5 Lek for each Kwh which together with VAT goes to 11.4 Lek.
The price reduction will only affect the category of family consumers, excluding other categories such as businesses, budgetary and non-budgetary institutions. There will be no changes for bakeries either./ Pamphlet
