The President of the DP, Lulzim Basha, held a meeting with his compatriots in Desio, Italy.
In his speech, he presented the 4 priorities of the Democratic Party. From the open lists, the vote of immigrants, electronic voting and counting, as well as Albania 1 electoral zone, Basha said that there are 4 goals of the DP for Electoral Reform.
From Lombardy, Basha called on Albanians to unite through values, to build an alternative to defeat Rama in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
"Our commitment is complete and clear. First of all, for the open lists, or the preferential vote. We will once again enable our citizens to be themselves, to be the ones who decide who represents you in the Parliament of Albania and not a handful of party leaders. The vote of every Albanian has the same weight. Electronic voting as a prerequisite for an effective vote of the diaspora. And last but not least, the return of half of Albania, i half of the Albanians who are outside Albania in a political decision-making body, giving them the Constitutional right without any hesitation, making it effective through the vote of the diaspora.
These are our views, friends, but I want to be honest with you. Less than a year separates us from the elections, the main factors that hold Albania hostage, we do not have them on our side in any of these goals, and in particular we do not have them on our side as far as the diaspora vote is concerned. So my call is to join this battle, there is still time. And the equation is clear: on one side are the overwhelming majority of Albanians, your brothers and sisters, your family members who want to have your voice, your vote in the establishment of the next parliament and the next government of Albania. .
Even from here in Milan I want to repeat the same call, everyone should take at least one step back from personal interest, for the interests of Albania, for the interests of the Albanians, for the interests in this case of the democrats, yes I would say all Albanians. And if we unite through values and not personal egos, uniting for tomorrow and leaving behind the past with its pros and cons, I am convinced that one year is enough to build the alternative and gave every Albanian the reason to go to punish Edi Rama with a vote, and to bring a democratic, European, pro-Western government, for the good of Albania and the Albanians", said Basha.
