The former deputy of the DP and the former candidate for mayor of Tirana in the local elections of May 14, 2023, stated in the show "The Unexposed", on MCN TV, that the name of Erion Veliaj has been removed from the SPAK file for the Tirana incinerator. According to him, Veliaj's name was mentioned 3 times in the request that SPAK took to the Assembly for the removal of the immunity of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj and that the documents and evidence that were part of the relationship of 5 months ago have been removed.
" On 109 pages of last week's decision of December 7 for the implementation of the prohibition measures for the arrest of 15 members, the name of the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, is not mentioned once, when in the meantime in relation to the request for granting permit for the arrest of Arben Ahmetaj and the removal of immunity signed by Altin Dumani, on July 7 of this year, at least there the name of the mayor was mentioned 3 times. Evidence and facts are mentioned, electronic communications found between citizens Taulant Tusha and Klodian Zotos, which surprisingly the prosecutor of the case forgot to mention in the file and in the decision. So when charges are brought against Taulant Tusha, the evidence that was found five months ago is not mentioned, and the evidence and documents that were part of the July report of this year were removed.
There are the communications of Erion Veliaj as mayor with the Ministry of Finance, with the minister Shkëlqim Cani, where he repeatedly rejects Erion Veliaj's request to finance the Tirana incinerator project and then when Shkëlqim Cani is rejected by Arben Ahmetaj, this the last one is even tougher with Erion Veliaj, rejecting 4 times his request to finance this project with state budget money, all these documents have disappeared from the July file.
As we speak, the case remains open. SPAK, for the sake of the intentions, removed the evidence. They forgot to arrest any cleaning lady who saw Veliaj coming in and out of the municipality and any worker with a shovel at the Sharra landfill. What has happened so far, with this standard, is unprecedented in these 3 decades in Albanian justice, even on its darkest day.

This is political will. Erion Veliaj made this decision for the Tirana incinerator. For the change of the national strategy in 2014 when the national emergency was declared, this decision was taken by Prime Minister Edi Rama. Then the decision to switch to a 30-year PPP, the decision was yes for Erion Veliajt. In the 3rd moment, we come to the letter of Erion Veliaj in March 2017, where Erion Veliaj and his firm enter into a financial commitment to the capital for 30 years. This letter is a reply to Mr. Alqi Blako, in the capacity of Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment, where it is stated that the municipality of Tirana agrees in principle to the feasibility study. This is accompanied by a financial table that for the next 30 years obliges the municipality of Tirana to pay 91 million euros, when, meanwhile, the law on local government requires every municipality to make every financial commitment in accordance with the decision of the municipal council . At this moment, we still had not done the stupidity of burning mandates and boycotting local elections. "Veliaj didn't have the numbers to pass it to the municipal council, so he came up with it himself and signed it himself ," said Këlliçi.
