Balla described Sali Berisha as the last Ayatollah in Europe.
The head of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, responded in the Assembly to the request of MP Tritan Shehu, stating that Albania's position has been clearly expressed through the official statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
During his speech, Balla compared Sali Berisha to a radical religious figure, describing him as the last Ayatollah in Europe. He linked the situation created by the February 28 protest to developments in the Middle East.
According to Balla, at the same time that the United States and Israel were striking targets in Iran, Berisha led the attack on the villa of former dictator Enver Hoxha. He emphasized that artists were inside the building at the time of the attack.
Currently, the former dictator's villa functions as a cultural center.
The debate took place within the framework of parliamentary discussions on the country's official positions and the internal political situation.
Balla in the Assembly: The Albanian government, through the Prime Minister, has made clear Albania's support for the US and Israeli intervention in a preventive attack on Iran and as you are aware, Rama has expressed Albania's full solidarity with the countries in the Persian Gulf that have become targets of the Ayatollahs' regime in the process of destruction in Iran. The Prime Minister spoke today with the President of the United Arab Emirates, and also expressed solidarity with other friendly countries, but as you are aware, there have been attacks on Cyprus. We welcome your proposal to have a position, but I believe that the position has been clear. In the same line as what President Trump confirmed that the US objective was to protect the American people and allied countries by eliminating threats to the Iranian regime. While the US and Israel with their three forces were striking the targets of the Ayatollahs' regime, the last Ayatollah in Europe, Sali Berisha, was ordering you and those who came from behind to attack the buildings. In those buildings, only Saliu was inside, none of us. The only one who could enter that building and warm himself by the dictator's roaring fire was the Ayatollah of your party. I believe that today is the day that on behalf of the DP, in line with the group of European people's parties in the EP, clearly stated through McAllister, that you must distance yourself from violence.
