The former leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, today held a meeting with the youth of the Democratic Party in the city of Berat, from where he spoke about the political situation in the country.
During the conversation, he said that the result of the May 14 elections was not a surprise, as he described the elections as a farce accompanied by tambourines and curses. He went on to say that a realistic plan is needed regarding the future of the country.
Basha did not leave the former prime minister Berisha unscathed, as he said that the revolution should no longer be given importance, as "the ink has come out", thus referring to Berisha's campaign. He emphasized the importance of the referendum and the vote of immigrants, as he further said that there should be recycling of elites such as the Prime Minister and the President.
"When I started this series of meetings, the first reason was what happened on May 14. It was not unexpected. But the dimension of what happened hit the democrats and citizens hard. Because it is a concern, an injury that in cities that had projects and dreams for change, it did not happen. May 14 is cardiac arrest for democracy. The problems of the elections, the buying and selling of votes, but also because there were no alternatives, offers. Citizens entered a process with their heads down. 87 out of 100 first-time voters did not vote, in the farce of democracy, accompanied by tambourines and toys.
