While the process of counting preferential votes has also begun in the Tirana district, where 189 out of 1,282 voting centers have opened, attention has focused on the open list of the Socialist Party, which has so far secured 7 mandates through individual voting.
According to current data, Blendi Gonxhja, Fatmir Xhafaj, Ervin Hoxha, Ornaldo Rakipi, Erion Braçe, Antonela Dedej and Anila Denaj are SP candidates who have currently won a mandate through the direct vote of citizens.
But Erion Braçe's name was not only greeted with votes – in an unusual scene, at CEAZ No. 5 in Tirana (“Vasil Shanto” school), a Democratic Party teller was heard enthusiastically cheering his name:
“Braeeee, Braeeee!”
Footage published on social media shows the moment when SP MP Erion Braçe is in the counting room and appears smiling, filming the unusual reaction with his cell phone.
CEAZ No. 5 covers administrative unit No. 5, one of the largest and traditionally left-wing areas in Tirana, considered a “basket of votes for the SP.” It was in this area that Braçe had focused the main part of his campaign.
