Remote debate/ Mitsotakis ignores Rama: He realized his mistake, he was rude
Edi Rama and Kyriakos Mitsotakis

Regarding Rama's statements, Mitsotakis said that he has a special way, sometimes things escape him, I think he understood, he was behaving rudely...

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has chosen to ignore his Albanian counterpart, Edi Rama, over a "heated" debate the latter had with a Greek-American journalist.

"You think you have a monopoly on philosophy and are direct heirs of Plato and Aristotle, but you are not ," was Rama's statement that brought reactions from Athens.

Meanwhile, in an interview this morning with Alpha, the Greek Prime Minister said that he does not take Edi Rama's statements seriously.

" I have known Mr. Rama for many years, he has a special way of expressing himself and often gets away with things he shouldn't have said. This time he said a harsh word and he realized his mistake. I am taking into account the correction he made, it was an inappropriate statement and it is better to leave it behind ," said Mitsotakis.

A day ago, Rama reacted by saying that his tones were not at all tendentious, but only friendly humor.

"I am amazed by the reaction of some media outlets in Athens, or of some tired Greek politician, regarding my not at all tendentious, but friendly humoristic tones during the conversation with the esteemed journalist John Defterios at the panel organized during the Sustainable Development Summit in Abu Dhabi! It is incredible that a sentence said with humor, can be completely disconnected from the context and turn into a public polemic with nationalist pathos, which unfortunately happens often in media Athens ," Rama said.

Prime Minister Rama continued by explaining that there is not the slightest doubt that Plato and Aristotle are Greek philosophers and that Ancient Greece is the cradle of European civilization; that Greek culture deserves nothing but admiration, not only for the philosophers of antiquity but also for the poets, writers, filmmakers and music it has given to humanity.

Venezuela and Greenland

During the interview, the Greek Prime Minister also spoke about the American operation to remove Nicolas Maduro from power in Venezuela.

" Maduro's departure is necessary, but not a good condition for Venezuela to transition to democracy. We do not agree with the violation of international law. We want a peaceful solution ," he said.

Regarding Greenland, Mitsotakis stated that it belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark.

" It is NATO territory. Only Denmark can decide its future. The US has the right to be concerned. I believe that we will not reach other solutions that would lead to a Europe-US conflict. Cooperation, not conflict ," he stressed. /Pamphlet/
