According to the vice president of the Democratic Party, Luciano Boçi, the increasingly critical stance of the United States of America towards the Albanian government is not an unexpected development, but the culmination of a process that began immediately after the local elections of May 14.
Boçi argues that the signals from Washington have become increasingly clear and public.
According to him, the turning point was the lack of official congratulations from the American side on the election results, which was followed by a "crescendo" of criticism of Prime Minister Edi Rama's way of governing.
The Democratic MP stated that strategic partners see Albania as a "narco-regime" whose political success relies on corruption and collaboration with crime.
"The United States knows very well, their sources are indisputable, that we have a narco-regime in Albania ," he emphasized to 'Syri TV'.
Boçi: The American stance is not a momentum that came only because of the government's revealed, exposed, criminal situation, its corruption, cooperation with crime, cooperation with international drug trafficking. The American stance is a process that has its basis of initiation after the end of the May 11 elections and from that moment the lack of determination to win the elections has reached a crescendo of division with the government.
So, by looking at the government with the eye of truth and adding critical and rejecting attitudes towards Rama's behavior in relation to the way he governs, in relation to the way he deals with politics, how he deals with parliament, and ultimately how he builds the overall processes of relations that a political force should have with the executive when it is in the majority.
And I am convinced that the United States knows very well, they have it very clear, their sources are indisputable, that in Albania we have a narco-regime that supports political success in corruption, in collaboration with crime, on the basis of which it has also built the engineering of hijacking elections and through which it itself is confirmed. And this is proven by the misgovernance, because it has arrogance, it has inattention to the citizen, it has only political attention to the repetition of its own political fate and before which it does not spare any kind of cooperation.
Cooperation that has overcome all levels of a policy that must move on the tracks of democracy and good governance. It is not just the initial stance. Then we have the reports of the State Department, the American stance has been infused with the European stance. There is the OSCE-ODIHR report, there are the resolutions of the right-wing parties, there are almost six resolutions, in which the political definition of the Rama regime is given and of which the knowledge and approval from the United States has certainly been well-known, or known. And it is not in vain that this stance today has taken a more concrete form, a form that is not only read politically, but a form that is also read publicly.
Which will probably be read even more publicly by many layers of the public in Albania in the future. Just as the American position is like this, let's not forget Edvin that the European position, the one that actually seems to be in a bind during this time, has also begun to display strong, prohibitive, preventive, critical positions towards Rama, whom they once expected as, that is, a man who promised a lot, who knew how to do diplomacy and politics, but it seems clear that everything has been built on another reality, a propagandistic reality, spun by Rama, but which in fact stems from a reality that does not match what Rama presents in Europe, presents in his dialogues and communications, because in Albania there is no democracy, no free speech, no political freedom, no institutions. The institutions have been transferred to the criminal offices of Edi Rama's private individuals and there is no care that this state has those parameters that are acceptable to the EU.
Today the doors are closed. Rama is also forced to accept this, unfortunately, as in relation to himself, because he was the one who, with this promise, sought to steal the hearts, let's say, of the Albanians. In fact, he stole their votes, not their hearts, because he has never stolen them. But today he is faced with this great truth, that even those who once welcomed him with open arms, today have crossed their arms and view him with doubt, with skepticism, and have even warned him and clearly in that political language that has its own codes, tells him that he should not continue. He must hand over power, hand over governance and the country must definitely move into a fair political process where citizens freely choose with their own will that political representation that reflects the desire and will of the sovereign.
