The Democratic Party has "taken heart" from the statement of the Senior Advisor in the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) at the United States Department of State, Mr. Samuel Samson.
His message was distributed yesterday by the US embassy and it stated: "Suppressing speech, facilitating mass immigration, targeting expression of faith, and undermining electoral choice threaten the very foundations of the transatlantic partnership."
The DP sees this statement as a blow to Rama.
“The Democratic Party welcomes the message of the Senior Advisor in the Bureau for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor (DRL) at the United States Department of State, Mr. Samuel Samson, conveyed by the US Embassy in Tirana.
In this message, the United States' stance on individual freedoms, clearly expressed by President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary Rubio, resonates strongly with the causes of the Democratic Party and the situation in Albania.
Summarized by Mr. Samson and reemphasized by the US Embassy in the case of Albania, they are a denunciation of Edi Rama's narco-regime. This is because it is an undeniable fact that in all four columns of the message - "Suppressing speech, facilitating mass emigration, targeting expression of faith and undermining electoral choice" - the narco-regime of Edi Rama and his government is supported, through cooperation with patronage players and drug cartels.
They threaten the opposition, democracy, society as a whole, and, as Mr. Samson rightly notes, “the very foundations of the transatlantic partnership.”
The Democratic Party, grateful for the time and universal dignity of the State Department's message, emphasizes the need also expressed in the newly approved IDC-CDI Resolution: a technical government for free elections. It guarantees our partners that it remains determined to restore the rule of law and free elections in Albania ," the full response states.
