The chairman of PDIU, Shpëtim Idrizi, has spoken about the unification of the opposition, calling it an action to be welcomed.
Idrizi said that a strong and unified opposition is needed in front of the government.
He added that he hoped that the DP led by Lulzim Basha would join Berisha's grouping, which, according to him, is necessary for strengthening the opposition.
"One of those things that we haven't done, even in 2021 we didn't do an analysis of why we didn't manage to win. Why did PD and LSI, although they were in opposition for 4 years, not make an agreement in the election month, because we would talk a lot today. We have seen with regret what has happened within the DP, because the DP is the biggest force, which attracts the strength of the opposition.
It is an act to be welcomed that two parts of DP have joined and I urge them to join with them as well. Then the other opposition parties should also join, but to be a real alternative to power, a lot of work is needed.
The country badly needs a strong and unified opposition. There is a need to adjust the balances. I think that if they speak on behalf of the democrats, they have an obligation to find a common language to create a unified opposition", said Idrizi in Euronews.
