With his visit faded McGonigal's trial, Rama praises Blinken; here is the full letter
Prime Minister Edi Rama sent a letter of thanks to Secretary of State Antony Blinken for his visit to Tirana. Blinken's arrival dimmed McGonigal's trial in the US, and of course the head of government is indebted to the head of DASH.
In his letter, Rama thanks and expresses Albania's commitment to NATO, as the prime minister has made an unusual request. Rama demands that the 2027 NATO Summit be held in our country.
" I believe the time has come for the Alliance to convene a full Summit in the Western Balkans, for the first time ever. After our discussion in Tirana, I would like to reiterate Albania's intention to host the 2027 NATO Summit, immediately following the one to be held in 2026, which Turkey has generously offered to host. As an allied country, Albania has always shown its unwavering commitment to the unity and values of the Alliance. Moving forward to host the NATO Summit, it reiterates its role as a beacon of the Alliance's values and purpose in this part of Europe ," writes Rama.
But what stands out is that the prime minister seems as if he has already announced the victory of the elections. Next year there will be a vote for the new Parliament and it is not known who will be in government in 2027. We do not believe that Rama is asking the Summit for another government. With this letter, Rama seems as if he is convinced that he will win, requesting that in 2027 the leaders of NATO gather in Tirana.
