Turkish Airlines: The donated plane is not ours
The mystery surrounding Turkey's gift plane to Albania continues. "Pamphlet" was the first to announce that the Turkish presidency has donated a plane to the Albanian army, news that was confirmed a few days ago by the Turkish media itself. The media reported that the company "Turkish Airlines" will donate an Airbus A319 plane to Albania, with a market value of around 11.9 million dollars. The local opposition media reacted harshly, describing it as a bargain between Rama and Erdogan, since according to them this money could go to the Turkish people.
However, today there was a reaction from "Turkish Airlines", which distances itself from the deal. According to the well-known Turkish newspaper " Hürriyet ", "Turkish Airlines" denies that there is a gift plane for Albania.
" The news published in the press and various media claiming that our company has decided to donate an aircraft from its fleet to the Republic of Albania does not reflect the truth. The aircraft in question has never been the property of our company and has been used only for operational needs. Our company demonstrates maximum compliance with the Principles of Corporate Governance within the scope of the Capital Market Law and applicable legislation, and shares its tangible asset transactions transparently with our investors ," it said in a reaction from the Turkish company reported by "Hürriyet".
But what is the truth? What is hidden behind the plane? According to what "Pamfleti" has previously reported, on November 7, 2025, Prime Minister Edi Rama signed the decision to accept a gift plane from the Presidency of Turkey worth 11.9 million dollars. The document states that the plane will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Albania, but will be used only for civilian transport. This means that it will not serve either for defense or for military operations.
The donated plane is precisely the charter plane known as "Ismaili", the same one that Edi Rama has been using for seven years for official and private trips, while fuel, maintenance and taxes are paid for by public funds.
The agreement signed on October 22 by Defense Minister Pirro Vengu and the Secretary General of the Turkish Presidency, Hakkı Susmaz, clearly states that the aircraft will not have a military function.
