What does the Bulgarian precedent teach us?
Scenes from the protest in Sofia /

In Bulgaria, it was not the parties, but Generation Z that overthrew the government; a dangerous lesson for Albanian politics that underestimates young people...

The resignation of the Bulgarian government after a wave of youth-led protests is a harsh and clear lesson for the entire Balkans; especially for Albania. What happened in Sofia was not an ordinary political crisis or a classic conflict between the opposition and the government. It was a revolt of a young generation, who no longer accepts living in a system rotten by corruption and political hypocrisy. It was a moral uprising against a worn-out elite, who lives in its own bubble, far from the reality of the citizens.

What makes the Bulgarian precedent extraordinary is the fact that for the first time in decades, the driving force of the protest was not a party, a union, or a disillusioned oligarch, but Generation Z, the young people who were born and raised in transition but no longer accept to inherit it.

It is these young people who use technology, social media, and horizontal organizing to challenge not only governments, but the entire old system of power.

They no longer believe in electoral promises and are not satisfied with the "rotation" of political faces. They demand a radical change, a policy that works for the citizens, not for the clients of power.

In Albania, these signals should be taken with the utmost seriousness. We have the same model of endless transition, the same political class that has been recycled for decades, the same contempt for young people who demand to be heard. The difference is that in Bulgaria the younger generation broke the silence and stopped the farce. In Albania, for the moment, young people are emigrating. But this is not a long-term solution. The longer real change is postponed, the more painful and unpredictable the moment of explosion will be.

The Albanian political elite must understand one simple thing: it is better to open themselves to the new generation and change from within, than to face a storm that will overturn them from without. Because Generation Z is not quiet, it is not blind and it is not deaf. It is seeing and experiencing injustice. And when it chooses to react, nothing will stop it. Neither propaganda, nor the servility of the media, nor the manipulation of parties.

The Bulgarian precedent is a warning: Albania must reflect!/ Pamphlet
