Prime Minister Edi Rama and Deputy Prime Minister, at the same time Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku participated today in the opening of the Great Ring of Tirana.
The project, which aims to ease traffic within Tirana, has a length of 29 kilometers. The permitted speed will be 140 km/h.
This ring will be at the service of all vehicles, which access Tirana from all entrances outside the city, both from Rruga e Arbri, as well as from Tirana-Elbasan or Tirana-Durrës.
The big ring is the biggest infrastructure project in the capital, finalized within the deadlines and will free Tirana from traffic and will have a significant impact on the economy, according to Balluk.
" We are at the moment of opening the segment of the Northern Ring Road, to complete the full 29 kilometers surrounding the capital. From now on, it's all accessible. The northern ring section has been one of the most difficult parts of this work, considering that we had an informal residential area and we had to relocate over 654 buildings. We still have some small details that will be finished by January ," said the deputy prime minister.
The prime minister also emphasized that this project will breathe life into Tirana and free the capital from traffic.
" The Great Ring of Tirana opens, the largest infrastructural project in the history of the capital, finalized within the promised deadlines, which will free the capital from traffic, and will have a significant impact on the economy by increasing the value of property, and the development of new businesses. The Great Ring of the capital is a 29-kilometer long segment that connects the capital with all the national exit roads, and that precedes the next challenge of the bypass of Elbasan" , underlines Rama.
