The Corruption Index in Albania, Dashamir Shehi shows who are the biggest

The head of the "Movement for National Development" Party, Dashamir Shehi, has stated that in Albania corruption has become part of our culture.

Shehi made the comments on the show "Now" on Euronews Albania, where he said that our country has somehow accepted corruption.

He said that starting from small traders who don't pay taxes, to big traders who don't pay VAT, everyone is somehow involved in theft.

" All those small merchants who don't pay taxes, all those big merchants, those millionaires who don't pay VAT, etc. and when it comes to discussing corruption... as it says in the Bible, who has not sinned he throws the first stone. Well, it's not like that. Society has somehow accepted corruption.

Everyone steals here, they say, we are also taking our share. So a part of the population identifies democracy in this way as well, to get rich quickly. And some have gotten rich very quickly. Two people who were neighbors with each other, a driver and a mechanic, the driver by smuggling passing trucks has become a millionaire, while the mechanic is in the country.

This driver has become a businessman, now he builds buildings, he can even become a member of parliament. We also have this kind of origin in the Parliament. So Albanian society has given a legal status to theft, because it has been distributed equally. The division in politics is not between the good and the bad, but it doesn't happen that way. The first government of Albania and the first administration were more honest.

We used to come from the state and go to the state. We did not know what the private payments were. There was a moral that was governing Albania. What did we do? We also evicted some honest socialists, they returned to the private sector, then they were taught by lek. Then they also came to power in 1997. Now came these last Ustallars who come directly from the business world, from the oligarchy. They came with clear business ideas ", said Shehi.
