The chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, in the conversation with Agron Hoxha, who suffered 13 years in the prison of Spaçi, focused on the debt that the Democratic Party owes to the persecuted, the neglect to maintain and turn into memorial museums the places of serving the sentence for the politically persecuted. .
Basha expressed the necessity of opening the files of the collaborators of the state security as well as the KGB and UDB.
He underlined the fact that the Files are used today by those who had access to them, as a means of blackmail against political officials, employees of the media sector and the economy.

The fact is a lack, it is a second injustice. The first injustice is your inhuman punishment, the second injustice is the fact that the democratic state, after the fall of communism, had to establish justice in relation to those who suffered communist persecution with you in prisons and concentration camps. And here, not only did this not happen, unfortunately some of them continued in the administration, some of them were promoted to the administration. And I'm not talking about the SP administration, where they have also maintained ties, but I'm also talking about the administrations of the Democratic Party. Shocking as it is, because I will say it openly, not for justification, I understood the role of some of them, I found out later, but the fact is that there were people with high positions and positions implementing the persecution, who later found themselves in high executive positions after 92.
Personal compensation to these sufferers is impossible to give for these sufferings. What we can try to do is recognize the state's share of responsibility for the hell they have been forced to go through. How many people are responsible for the persecution who continue their duties in the state administration to this day? And then we come to the political part. We have a problem with those who are commonly called in the language of the people, they are called collaborators of the state security, but they are not only collaborators, they are also agents, they are operatives of the state security. And within that, we have another problem born from politics, which is the attempt to blackmail them, or rather, the attempt to control them through blackmail. So certain people in Albania who have access to the file. Illegal access to copies of files or original files still blackmails people with public responsibilities. From politicians, members of parliament, senior officials, according to reports some time ago, to the highest official of the Republic and other people with public responsibilities, whether from the world of media or the world of economy, who live a life double. They seem to be living a normal life, but when a file is waved at them, they turn into controlled people.
The first thing that should happen is that the people who take political responsibility should not be blackmailable, that is, they should not have a record of cooperation with the state security or a more serious act with the then dictatorship. The proposal that has been in the parliament for a long time is that every person who takes political responsibility, deputy, minister, mayor, member of the municipal councils, must sign a form that has not been or has been a collaborator, etc. Second, the persons who have had a role of cooperation with the state security cannot be representatives of the people.
It is 2024, 34 years since the fall of communism. It has been 49 years since Agron was convicted. There is a whole generation that has lived in this drama and part of this society, they are the ones who have caused this drama. It is no longer possible, even for the sake of the memory of those who are no longer alive, for the sake of the honor and respect of those we have among us, but also for the sake of future generations, to continue living with this schizophrenia within our society where we have a number not a small number of public figures who consider themselves to be one thing, another thing they feel they are. This has to end.
Another aspect must also end, which is the agency of hostile services with Albania. Then in a certain aspect and at a certain time, that in some cases they were allies for a short time and in particular today. The relevant authorities must take measures to expose the Soviet agency and the UDB agency in Albania, to remove any possibility that these people will be reactivated either through their will or through blackmail, that if you will be activated in the new agencies of BIA or FSB and GRU, then you will have consequences. It is quite simple, if there are people alive in Albania today who have been agents of the UDB and the KGB, it is in the interest of our national security that they be exposed. It is not a question of criminal punishment, just to expose them so that it is known that these people were part of the agencies, precisely to avoid any possibility that today they are misused again by secret services hostile to Albania and to NATO.
