The chairman of the PL, Ilir Meta, returned the attacks against SPAK and the leader Altin Dumani, whom he accused of having blocked the bank accounts of the party. He even threatened to bankrupt the banks.
Commenting on this statement, analyst Arben Meçe said that such statements by Meta are punishable under Albanian legislation, as he added, they harm national security.
" In Albania, there is a provision that specifically protects the personality and state figures, including Dumani. Why does the Albanian state allow certain elements to declare in public in such forms and dimensions that are anti-legal and anti-constitutional. One of them is that of the bank. The democratic system has several pillars, which are related to national security, and one of them is the banking system. If in a democratic state, it violates banking security, this constitutes a criminal offense related to national security. '94 exploded as a result of this mechanism, the reliability of the banking system was violated. What worries me is not Meta's call, but what instruments he possesses that says 'I am bankrupt'. Being a reliable figure, the people listen to Meta's words and produce a banking crisis. But what does anyone believe because he is the most unreliable politician in Albania, but it leads us to another track because it is said that Meta, through his reliable instruments and accessories, has introduced a significant amount of money, and billions of euros, into the banking system. When you make such a call, there is a possibility that these people will make a withdrawal of this amount, producing a vacuum in the banking system and what Meta gives as a message ", said Meçe in "ABC News".
More worrying, the analyst says, are the mechanisms that Meta talks about being able to use.
" Meta's threat should be looked at carefully as a message and an instrument in his hand. Whereas Meta's calls that harm national security and are punishable, regardless of being a former president or chairman, do not protect him from this type of statement. If the state does not react to these statements, it means that Meta's messages are falling on deaf ears. It worries me that Meta had the potential that, through its instruments and connections, it is putting on the market a statement that is punishable by the Albanian legislation that has to do with the destabilization of Albania and the national security of Albania ," added the analyst.
