GJKKO rejected Sali Berisha's request for the dismissal of judge Irena Gjoka.
The court rejected the request of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who through his lawyers, Genc Gjokutaj and Sokol Mêngjesi, requested the dismissal of the judge of the case, Irena Gjoka.
" The person under investigation, Sali Berisha, through his defenders, submitted the request for the exclusion of the judicial body that examines the request of the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime with the object: the replacement of the security measure. This request was passed for review to the ready judge, who at the end of the trial decided to dismiss the request ", the court announcement states.
Today, the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime is expected to make a decision on the request of SPAK, which requested house arrest for Berisha.
SPAK's request arrived at the court on Saturday, after receiving the authorization from the Assembly to remove Berisha's immunity on December 18.
The request for the tightening of the security measure against Berisha came after the latter opposed as unconstitutional the previous measures of the obligation to appear and the ban on going abroad, not implementing them. The Code of Criminal Procedure provides for the substitution of the measure in such cases.
