British Ambassador Alastair King-Smith ruled out a mediation by him or other factors to resolve the crisis in Parliament between the majority and the opposition on the issue of the parliamentary rights of the opposition.
In the interview for the show "Pa censure", the British ambassador was very careful about political balances, but gave a clear message; the problem must be solved through dialogue by the Albanian political parties themselves.
“What I and other international partners want to see is for those parliamentarians to take their responsibilities and find a way forward. We encourage them to dialogue with each other. This is what they have to do to find a way forward on these things, as it is not for the internationals to interfere. This is done for Albania and is an important step in Albania's democracy", said the ambassador, who is careful not to take sides in the clashes between democrats and socialists.
And although the partners are clear about not interfering, they know the consequences of what political conflict brings to people and the economy.
“These parliamentary issues must be resolved quickly, otherwise you will see citizens seeing that democracy does not work. We know from young people that this is one of the factors why they leave, we know from business that this is one of the reasons that they may not invest as you mentioned earlier", said the ambassador British.
