After the meeting of the Parliamentary Group yesterday, the DP convenes the Presidency today. The former candidate for the municipality of Tirana in the "May 14" elections, Roland Bejko announced that the mayor will not be elected today, but added that today the modalities for the reorganization of the PD will be decided.
In an interview for "Abc News", he said that at the end of the meetings of the Parliamentary Group yesterday, in one of the points they said that on July 15 the new president should be elected. Bejko said that every proposal will be considered by the presidency.
"The president is not elected today. Today, the modalities for the start of the reorganization of the Democratic Party will be decided, and 21 days since the end of the elections are too many, this organization should have started on time. Now I believe that the modalities will be found and the organization of the party should be done an hour before. Every proposal received will be considered by the presidency. The previous two meetings were consultative forums, not with executive power. We will see what will happen at the meeting of the presidency. Personally, I want it to be done before me. The president should be elected on the principle of one member, one vote ," he said.
Bardhi said yesterday that he is ready to sit at the table with Berisha, and for this Bejko said that he and many others like him in the DP refuse to do the same as Bardhi, since Berisha and his status was the reason why they broke up.
" I cannot speak about what Bardhi said. I can state that Roland Bejko and many like Bejko in PD rule out any kind of negotiations with Berisha, since his status was the reason we split. In we are designing the establishment of the new right, with the old logo. It is unforgivable that in the prescription of the points made by the PD parliamentary group, at the end there was a clause that said in case there is a decision different from this one, it will not be implemented. PD needs to be reconstructed and become an alternative for governance in the 2025 elections ", said Bejko.
Regarding the fact that Basha has appeared on stage as a candidate to take over the leadership of the DP, Bejko said that it is good to come out and it is an alternative to take the leadership of the DP.
" Very good, like Basha, other candidacies come out. He is an alternative to take the leadership of the Democratic Party, the statute does not prohibit him, the statute prohibits "non gratas" and those who have problems with justice" , said Bejko.
In the end, Bejko said that if Basha were to take over the leadership of the PD and cooperate with Berisha, he would leave the PD himself if he could not remove Basha. In the end, he announced that he will not run for president, but will be there in the reorganization of the Democratic Party.
" If this happens, I will leave the group where Mr. Basha was a part. He will do this if he is unable to remove Basha, if I had the opportunity to do so I would remove him. I will not be a candidate for mayor ", concluded Bejko.
