Chris LaCivita came to the DP with a bang, with the argument that he will lead the campaign of the largest opposition party. But apart from 2-3 meetings, he has not been seen again. Today he had a virtual meeting with the candidates, where the latter gathered in a hall. His absence confirms the rumors that he has fled to the US and is not here.
During an online meeting, Chris Lacivita advised Democratic Party candidates to meet as many citizens as possible and talk to them about the economy, welfare, and the cost of living. Lacivita declared that the polls conducted by the government-affiliated media are “fake,” while saying that the situation in Albania is already being discussed in Washington. He said that relations between Albania and the US will be strengthened even more after the Democratic Party’s victory on May 11.
Chris Lacivita: " With only 10 days left, we are at the most important moment for the future of Albania. Dr. Berisha has worked incredibly hard in every corner of the country to convey the message that will lead us to victory in 10 days. Now is the time for all our candidates, staff, and volunteers in every corner of the country to unite and lead us to victory on election day. Each of you has a very important role in this victory, and you should feel proud of that."
US President Donald Trump's campaign strategist, who is also leading the Democratic Party's campaign, also asked opposition candidates where they should focus their campaigns.
Chris Lacivita: The main issues we have talked about in this campaign are those that have to do with the future of Albania: the economy, welfare, and the cost of living. All of these are the most important issues for citizens and will be the ones that will decide the outcome of the elections.
It is very important that in these final days of the campaign we show citizens who is responsible for the miserable economic situation and lack of opportunities in Albania.
There is only one person: Edi Rama. It is equally important to talk to our citizens not only about who has brought this mess, but also about who is best prepared to solve it. And that is Dr. Berisha, our candidates for the Albanian Parliament all over the country. There are a few things that I consider very important to ensure that we are doing everything we can on election day.
It's vital that in every polling place, in every neighborhood, we have lists of people who we know support us. And we need to make sure that they get out and vote.
"Let there come to Albania for the DP and Mr. Berisha, a great wave of support to make an extraordinary change, not forgetting that the diaspora and Albanians everywhere in the world are also voting for the first time ."
Chris Lacivita drew parallels between the situation in Albania under the government of Edi Rama and that in the US under the government of Joe Biden.
Chris Lacivita: I'll start with the similarities between Edi Rama and Joe Biden. Both are unstable. Both have destroyed the economy. And both will lose on election day. Undecided voters are the ones who, at this moment, will decide the fate of the election.
It is essential to talk to them and explain how the economy and Edi Rama's failure over the last 12 years have affected them.
Explain it to them. Show it to them. These voters will be more likely to support us. If Edi Rama hasn't secured their vote so far, he won't secure it in the next 10 days.
The American strategist also stated that the situation in Albania has also made Washington aware, while adding that after the victory on May 11, relations between Albania and the US will be strengthened even more after the victory of the Democratic Party in the elections, while he also commented on the polls that the media are conducting near the government.
Chris Lacivita: Yes, there is. There is an awareness in the United States about the upcoming elections in Albania. But the real news, however, will be when we win and defeat Edi Rama. That is a good question. I believe that you have already seen some of these things happening across the country through our message. You cannot trust the state media polls. We in America call them “fake news”. They have a specific purpose. Their purpose is to create the perception that Edi Rama will win, but he will not win. It is very important that we do not take such things into account.
As he urged the candidates to go door to door and meet every citizen, Chris Lacivita also conveyed an inspiring message from the campaign of US President Donald Trump.
Chris LaCivita: Don't stop working until the polls close. You have to take advantage of every valuable minute that you have left. And what I challenge all of you here to do in these last two weeks, leading up to Election Day, is to identify a number of people in your voting precinct that you want to bring in more than just the ones you already have.
Remember, this is just math, and it's about getting more people out to vote. When President Trump was shot in July, he made it clear what he wanted from Americans: to fight, to fight, to fight. And frankly, that's exactly what Albanians need to do. You need to fight, you need to show up to vote, and if you do that, you will win.
