Law on Protected Areas/ Deputy Zhupa: Environmental massacre, will concrete

The Deputy of the Democratic Party, Ina Zhupa, has called on President Begaj to return the law on Protected Areas to the Assembly.

According to her, there is no legal or public interest reason to allow the destruction of these areas.

"It is in the dignity of the institution of the President to be a party to the Constitution and not to the government, which cannot argue a legal reason or public interest why the protected areas should be destroyed. Since the first days when the initiative of 12 deputies was just filed "For Protected Areas", we denounced that it would be an environmental massacre, to the detriment of the public interest and destructive for these areas.

With the approval of the final draft, it is clear that every corner, every surface of the protected areas can be turned into concrete, into a resort, into a casino, into businesses for the oligarchs, it is enough to be a client of the government and give approval, Rama said. Chupa.

According to the MP, the law has been strongly opposed by environmental experts and environmentalists.

She charged that this is a law that will eliminate protected areas, leaving them as a concept only on paper.

"This is a law that destroys protected areas and leaves them as a concept only on paper, it is a law that benefits only the oligarchs and destroys the natural heritage, flora, fauna, ecosystem of the most prosperous and beautiful places in Albania.

Our battle against this destructive law will continue even if the president does not fulfill his duty, in the Constitutional Court. But it is in the dignity of the institution of the President to be a party to the Constitution and not to the government that cannot argue a legal reason or public interest why the protected areas should be destroyed.

It is in the President's honor not to return laws only when they affect his position, such as the law of decorations, and to remain silent when students are affected, when science and academia are affected, when the right to investigate misgovernment is affected, when the territory of Albania is affected. Silence is shared guilt. You should express yourself by returning this law because it is the future of Albania that is being harmed", said Deputy Zhupa.
