On Wednesday, Aleksandar Vucic and Volodymyr Zelensky had a second bilateral meeting in Tirana at the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit. After the meeting, Zelensky thanked Serbia for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, for humanitarian and financial aid and for accepting refugees from his country.
The President of Serbia, as he himself says, at his own request, managed to remove from the Declaration for the support of Ukraine the parts on the imposition of sanctions against Russia and the Russian malign influence.
Vučić, in the same way, also fought for the tone of the text of the Declaration in Athens in August 2023 at the summit of the countries of the Western Balkans in the presence of the representatives of the EU countries and the presidents of Ukraine and Moldova, because the wording regarding Russia it was problematic.
At that summit, Vucic and Zelenski spoke directly for the first time since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Vucic confirmed to Zelensky that Serbia will continue to support and respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Although the majority of government voters have a moderate to very negative opinion of Zelensky, this meeting will have a positive effect on his rating due to some nice words from the president about him and his country, rather than has a negative effect on the evaluation of the government due to the "meeting with Russia's adversary", he explains.
