Gazment Bardhi, the chairman of the Democratic Parliamentary Group, did not answer BIRN's question whether he will vote for the Socialists' resolution.

Earlier, when the resolution was made public, he announced a political decision by the group, thus leaving a door open for cooperation.

It is likely that the position will be announced at the last moment, while the arguments to participate or not in this commission will be expressed during the discussions in the 4 hours of debate provided for this issue in Monday's session.

The "Reestablishment" group is part of another compromise with the ruling majority, which resulted in the return of the opposition to the Assembly and the establishment of two parliamentary investigative commissions and a dialogue group for electoral reform.

The initiative was made public at the beginning of April by Prime Minister Edi Rama, and some opposition exponents rushed to oppose it as an initiative that could undermine the justice reform.

Enkelejd Alibeaj, a deputy from the official Democratic Party, considered absurd the fact that the proposal to fight corruption came "from the most corrupt prime minister of the most corrupt government".

Likewise, Ilir Meta, who leads the Freedom Party, a party allied with "Reestablishment", says that Rama has no credibility for anti-corruption reforms.

Skepticism about the initiative has also been shown by deputy Jorida Tabaku, who leads the National Council of European Integration, an all-inclusive parliamentary structure, which, she thinks, will be superseded by the ad-hoc commission that is expected to be established.

She said on Friday that the opposition is serious about the fight against corruption and integration, but that she does not see the same seriousness from the majority.

Tabaku had announced the meeting of this council, but called it a failure since only one deputy from the majority was present, not reaching the necessary quorum.

"Today's boycott is disappointing. After all, we can be divided on many topics, but for no moment I thought that we could be divided on the issue of integration," she said.

But the vice president of this council from the SP, Toni Gogu, justified the absence of colleagues with the inappropriate day of the week set for the meeting due to their agenda as MPs in their constituencies.

"This is green week and it is an obligation for us elected officials to be with our voters based on the rules of the assembly", suggested Gogu.

The Socialists claim that their resolution is a mechanism that came out of the 'Screening' process for European integration and will address the fight against corruption and good governance, while critics of the initiative see it as a danger to the justice reform.

Currently, a working group set up for this purpose is in force at the Laws Commission, which has drawn up a series of proposals for the basic laws of justice, changes that have received criticism from the experts of the legal missions of the EU and the USA. / BIRN
