Former chief democrat Lulzim Basha, during the meeting he held today with young people in the city of Berat, he tried to refute Berisha's accusations regarding the May 17 agreement.
He declared that the agreement between him and the head of the government Edi Rama on May 17 was not secret but completely transparent and added that the mediator was the United States of America.
Basha also added that Sali Berisha and other DP figures initially welcomed the agreement but then attacked it due to the destruction of their interests.
"The May 17 agreement is a transparent agreement. The agreement was published by DP and SP with all points. It was unanimously applauded.
He was greeted by Sali Berisha, Ilir Meta, Jozefina Topalli, Besnik Mustafai. But after this agreement, some members did not run again, they were not candidates for deputies. The moment they did not run for re-election, they started: "The agreement was bad", "it was at the expense of the Democrats". As long as it was in their interest they were promoters of the deal. When they did not re-candidate, they began to fall for the PD. The agreement was brokered by the US.
It was mediated by the US envoy. The envoy said whoever refuses will have consequences. Even today, 6 years after the May 17 agreement, they continue with the industry of mud and lies. My flaw is that I believe in the human integrity of these people. But these people are without integrity. There was never collusion. It was published at 5 o'clock ," said Basha.
