"More money for Check Up", PD accuses the government of the new draft

The deputy of the Democratic Party, Orjola Pampuri, has commented on the draft new budget for next year while accusing the majority of trying to pass it in a complete lack of transparency.

Through a statement to the media, the democratic deputy says that through this budget, the government seeks to increase again the support for concession contracts and PPPs.

Pampuri adds that although it has been proven by the National Audit Office that Check Up has failed, the government "will continue to allocate even more money for Check Up with a fund of 876 million ALL or 8.2 million euros, bringing the bill to 4 PPPs of Health in full 50 million euros for the next year."

"The budget for 2024 is being passed in a complete lack of transparency for the citizens, and by not creating a normal operation of parliamentary control, the majority is trying at all costs to pass it in complete silence.

Visibly, the Government increases the budget support for PPPs and concessions, including those of Health, which for this year will be paid more expensively for the pockets of Albanian citizens. Fully 12.5 million euros more. Meanwhile, one of the most notorious concessions of this Government, that of Check-Up, proved by the last audit of the High State Control, that during the year 2022, this concession was billed for more than 20 thousand incomplete medical examinations. So even though the concession did not carry out those checks, the Government continued to pay a full 37.2 million ALL or 350 thousand euros from the state budget, for a service that was not offered to the citizens.

This is not an isolated case since in previous inspections the concessionaire has reported a number of inspections even lower than the number of inspections provided for under the contract for one year. Apparently Check-Up has failed to do this. This can be evidenced, according to KLSH, by the increase in the costs of treating diseases and reimbursement of drugs, with a value of 11 million euros more.

So this year the Government will continue to allocate even more money for Check Up with a fund of 876 million ALL or 8.2 million euros, bringing the bill for 4 Health PPPs to a full 50 million euros for the next year. This is not a budget for citizens, but for the interest of a handful of people who have been benefiting from Albanian taxpayers for years ," she declared.
